How to Improve Your Forum Marketing ResultsFor the online marketer, forum marketing is one of the simplest and most effective investments of time and attention available. This is something practically anyone can do for almost any niche. Granted, some products and services may not have tons of forums for them but most will.
You've probably heard that some Internet marketers skip this method of marketing altogether. Be that as it may, you can accomplish many goals it you're a niche marketer.
Your first step is to establish a positive reputation for yourself in the forum and as an expert in your niche. A failure in either task will net results that are not at all optimal. But before you can accomplish those two objectives, you have to be seen. However, you really don't want to spend all your time on forums. You have other marketing to get done and this is just one part of it.
You won't make the connections you're hoping to make, however, if you walk right in and start posting here, there, and everywhere. Take a little time to see what time of day sees the greatest amount of traffic and limit your posting to those times. You can make half a dozen or so thoughtful posts answering questions or contributing something valuable.
Make your mark by starting a few thoughtful threads of your own. It's quite common to feel a little bit shy about going out there and starting threads of your own. Begin by thinking of information you have that can be valuable to the community and share it. Don't forget to encourage others to ask you any questions they might have about what you've said.
If you really want to invite commentary, try saying something that's a little controversial. You may have to walk a fine line when it comes to controversy and it here can be a judgment call. Don't go outside the niche when you start threads, whatever else you do.
I've been in forums where a few people were chronic thread-starters. Sometimes, they are viewed in a dim light by other forum members. Don't start a ton of new threads at one time. Put a little space between them.
If you can start one thread five days a week, go for it, but be sure you make posts, too. Human nature still rules the day when it comes to forums too. Even in this type of situation, you can't always follow along with others just because it's expected of you. Gray areas abound with forum marketing. If it's at all possible you want to find as many unique ways to share your knowledge with other forum members. Even though forum marketing works, do not expect immediate results. But it might be possible to see fast sales, depending on the forum and services that you are promoting. Some forums allow you to advertise your products or services, and when done right that can bring a fast cash windfall.
